ABOUT 45P

On one level, we’re a music group.

A string trio, to be more precise - which is a pretty rare bird

in the chamber music world. Kind of like a three-wheeled

vehicle. Perhaps this reveals something about who we are,

but we find this quirkiness to be positive,

interesting, engaging … even compelling.

It brings us face-to-face with a slew of fascinating

composers and works that have been neglected,

forgotten, “undiscovered.” It compels us to produce our

own, fresh arrangements and conceptions of known

works (“putting new flowers in old pots” or something like

that). It also challenges us to stay open to a broad array of

new performing collaborations, partnerships, venues, and

projects.

So in this way maybe 45P is more than just a trio. It’s an idea .. an aspirational vision … a hope.

The hope that live music still has the power to move people,

irrespective of age, geography, social or political leanings,

everything.

That the world is filled with stirring beauty,

even beyond what’s widely accepted and “famous”.

And that with just a bit of care and watering, new flowers can indeed flourish and bloom in our midst

… even in old pots.
